For a long time there has been a huge hype within the blogging world about the Urban Decay 'Naked' eye shadow palette range. Eye shadow, however, is one thing that I have never really had a particular 'passion' for, and it is not something that I use in my daily make up routine. However, I decided that after reading so many rave reviews of this product, it was something that I needed to add to my make up collection, so I found myself browsing the Feel Unique website and eventually decided to take a baby step on my journey of eye shadow discovery and purchase the 'Naked Basics' palette.
Unlike the 'Naked' 1, 2 and 3 palettes, which are each priced at £37 and contain a larger selection of nude tones, the naked basics palette is only £22 and contains six different shades, which for me seemed like plenty to get me started with! Having purchased other products from Urban Decay before, I already knew the quality of the make up would be fantastic and the packaging would be gorgeous, however, the higher price of the larger palettes initially put me off, so I decided to splurge a little less on the smaller palette to begin with.
As soon as my parcel arrived I was so excited to start experimenting and trying out the different shades! My favourite is already 'faint', a gorgeous natural brown colour, which I have been wearing every day, mixed with venus in the inner corner of my eye to brighten up the eye and give the illusion of bigger, rounder eyes. The only down side to purchasing the smaller palette is that it does not come with a brush, however I used my trusty M.A.C. eye shadow brushes (purchasable from Selfridges) to blend the shades together. The eyeshadows are extremely fine pressed powder, meaning you get a fantastic pigmentation off a very small amount of product, and the colours blend together like an absolute dream!
I have to admit, there is a small part of me which regrets not purchasing one of the larger palettes, however I think it may just make its way onto my Christmas list and I'll have to hope that Santa leaves it for me to open! I am already obsessed with the multiple colour combinations you can achieve from these 6 shades, from a more sultry smoky eye featuring 'crave', or a much more subtle day-to-day natural look using Naked 2 and WOS, so I can only imagine how incredible the possibilities must be with the larger palette! I really highly recommend this product for anyone looking for a great selection of natural shades to use on a daily basis as well as for creating a more dramatic night time look!

DeleteI love the Urban Decay Naked Basics palette! Great start if you ask me! :) If you're looking for a larger range of colors, the Lorac Pro Palette is amazing!!
ReplyDeleteOhh thanks for the tip! I may give it a try! xx
DeleteI've been unsure of whether a Naked palette would be worth adding to my collection since I had already bought another high end palette, but you may have just convinced me!

Which other palette did you try? xx
DeleteI bought the Too Faced Everything Nice palette. So far I've been really liking it - and it was really reasonably priced too! $70 for 20 eyeshadows, 4 blush/bronzers, mascara and a couple of brushes. The chocolate soleil bronzer smells amazing :)
DeleteOooh it sounds lovely i will have to research this more! xx
Deletewow! I love your blog. There has been a huge rave about these palettes. I see them around everywhere. It's so fun to transform your look using makeup. Faint, sounds like a really nice shade as I use mostly browns and basic colours. :) x

DeleteI love everything about Urban Decay. I wasn't to keen on the first naked basic's palette though. I think it was due to the less pale shades and my eyelids are more olive toned. The basics 2 palette on the other hand... hands down amazing!
ReplyDeleteAww that's such a shame, but it's great you've found a palette that works for you! xx
DeleteI love my NAKED Basics palette! I love that it's so small, yet has all the colors that you need to create an everyday look. It's perfect for travel. ;)
ReplyDeleteme too! xx
DeleteLove these colors! Looks like something I would love to try! I like using a pale shade on my eyelid and a darker shade in the crease make your eyes pop but can blend it to give a more smoky look.
ReplyDeleteI do the same! these blend so well so they're really easy to use xx
DeleteI've thought about getting this palette so many times, I really don't know why I haven't bought it yet. Such a great neutral palette for everyday! x

DeleteI love this pallete, I want to buy one for me...
ReplyDeleteaww you should do! treat yourself! xx
DeleteI love the naked basics palette and bought it in South France at Sephora earlier this year. It is definitely worth the hype, but I prefer my Vice 2 with the shadow "Rewind", it is smooth like butter and applies perfectly!
